Ten thousand humanoids a year: robots enter the mass market

1X Technologies is starting production of up to 10,000 NEO humanoids a year — economies of scale begin.

1X Technologies has reported the launch of a facility to produce up to 10,000 NEO humanoid robots annually, with a plan to multiply capacity by 2027. Humanoids are ceasing to be demonstration projects.

NEO is designed not for the assembly line but for work in human environments: help around the home, elderly care, carrying objects. In effect, a new class of consumer technology is taking shape.

The main barrier today is no longer technology but economics. Once volumes reach the tens of thousands, economies of scale kick in, and the market shifts from experiments to mass adoption.
